Currently Team Survivor Oregon Trail is run by Laurie Iverson. If you

Laurie is a NASM certified Personal Trainer and AFAA certified Group
Exercise Instructor. Two years ago Laurie was an Interior Designer and was diagnosed with breast cancer. During the course
of her treatment, Laurie was dismayed by the lack of information regarding exercise and fitness as it related to cancer. She
relied on her own experiences as an athlete and coach and spent hours researching what programs and resources were available
to individuals in Portland and the surrounding areas. She returned to school and pursued a degree in Community Health and
Health Promotion and worked as a Strength Training Instructor for a clinical trial conducted by OHSU that studied the affects
of strength training on breast and prostate Cancer survivors. The results that she observed as well as those indicated by
the research data and the incredible bonding and support that was created in the weight room encouraged her to start a chapter
of Team Survivor here in Oregon.
Laurie's Great Aunt, Mother and Sister have had breast cancer and are all leading
active fruitful lives. Her Great Aunt plays tennis several times a week, her Mother participates in a Strength program offered
by the flagship chapter of Team Survivor in Seattle and her Sister is pictured above just before running her first marathon.
As survivors, they all attribute their great health and fitness to a consistent and personalized exercise regimen.
