Team Survivor Oregon Trail Soaring Crane Qigong

Taught by Joyce Spreyer Fridays 10:00-12:00 in Mt. Park (Southwest Portland near the Sylvania Campus of Portland Community College)

10 sessions, beginning April 17 and ending June 19 There is no cost for the class but there is a required textbook which is $25.00

Soaring Crane is one of the two most effective forms of qigong for dealing with cancer, as identified by the government of China in an extensive research study.
It is gentle but very thorough in cleansing the qi meridians and opening acupoints.
Some people refer to qigong as “do it yourself acupuncture.”  It also is known as “moving meditation” because it promotes deep relaxation and a pattern of brain waves similar to those achieved in sitting meditation.

Level One of Soaring Crane Qigong includes the following components:
Remedy Routine One, Liver Cleansing
Remedy Routine Two, Tonification
The Five Routines
Lying Down Meditation, Four Route Relaxation
Lying Down Meditation, Exchanging Qi with the Universe

In addition to learning the movements, students will receive instruction in the theory of qigong which is based in Taoist principles and which is the foundation of Chinese medicine.  Qigong is a holistic exercise benefiting body, mind and spirit.
While improving physical health, Qigong promotes a peaceful mind and a more connected, serene way of being.

Good Food, Great Medicine
A Homemade Cookbook by Mea Hassell and Miles Hassell, M.D.

It is finally here, the 2nd edition of this great cookbook by Miles Hassell, M.D.from the Providence Center for Integrative Medicine, and his wife Mea Hassell. Good Food, Great Knowledge is a key ingredient in any plan for better health and well-being. Recent studies have shown that the foods traditionally served in Mediterranean cultures – especially whole grains, fruits, vegetables, fish and healthy fats – can reduce the risk of developing cancer by as much as 60 percent. Such a diet also holds great promise as a therapy for cancer.

To help you bring the benefits of good nutrition into your own kitchen, we're delighted to share some of our favorite recipes for dishes that are rich in nutrients, robust in flavors and recognized for promoting good health.
